Privacy Policy. Inside leg measurements not required.
Your data belongs to you. But I do need to use some of it to provide a service. Otherwise we’d have to set up drop sites, code words, and fight over who gets to be 007 and who gets lumbered with 009.
So this sets out what personal information I collect, why I collect it, what I do with it, and how long I keep it.
What information do you collect?
To that end, I only collect and process what I need. This is limited to your name and email address, which you will have provided either by contacting me or filling in a form.
Once we start working together, I will also collect and process your business billing address to issue things like estimates and invoices.
I use ConvertKit to send my newsletter, and they use cookies to track things like open rates and the like. You can find out more about that here.
I do not collect or process information of anyone under the age of 18, nor do I collect sensitive information such as race, sexual orientation, health. I certainly don’t want to collect or indeed process your inside leg measurement, so please don’t ask.
Cookie? Monster
I don’t know about you, but I’ve gone right off cookies. Flipping pop-ups everywhere. Gets right on my nerves. Unfortunately, this website needs certain cookies to keep it running, and these cookies may collect certain information about you. You can find out more about it here (sorry it’s a bit dull, I didn’t write it).
Why do you collect information?
Consent
If you have signed up to my newsletter, you have given me explicit consent to use your contact information to send you emails.
You can withdraw this consent at any time. Simply unsubscribe from the newsletter.
If you have filled in a web form, you have given me explicit consent to use your information to contact you.
You may withdraw your consent at any time.
Contractual
Once we have entered into a contract, either with you as the client or the supplier, I will process your information in order to fulfill that contract.
Legitimate Interest
I may also use your information where I can demonstrate a legitimate interest in doing so. In these situations, I legally need to be able to demonstrate that my reason for contacting you is reasonable. If you contracted me to supply copy, I can’t email you to ask you if you want to buy my lawnmower, but I could email you to ask if you needed any more copy.
Legal Obligation
I have a legal obligation to keep records of my business should HMRC wish to see them. Therefore I may need to collect, process, and retain your information to meet this legal obligation. Because when the taxman cometh, you don’t want to be short on paperwork.
How long do you keep my data?
- Up to one year if you were a newsletter subscriber (unless you object)
- Five years if I need the information to meet my legal obligations.
Do you share my data?
If you are a newsletter subscriber, your information will be held and processed by ConvertKit in order to send you emails.
To start working together, I use eSignatures.io to send you a contract and FreeAgent to send you estimates and invoices.
These services have their own privacy policies which aren’t as fun to read as mine, but are still important if you want to know how your data is being processed. Click the links above to have a read.
Speaking of fun:
